Learning Objectives

To understand the broad differential diagnosis of the red eye and to apply the various forms of management.

To determine the cause of keratitis and to be able to treat appropriately.

To recognize traumatic causes of red eye and so refer such patients to a pediatric ophthalmologist immediately.

To differentiate among the viral, bacterial, and allergic forms of conjunctivitis and ascertain when to refer a child to a pediatric ophthalmologist.
